En Confidence - En Fidence - En Danse
In relation to Earth, I am standing still.
In relation to the sun, I am moving in circles.
In relation to the Milky Way, I am moving forward in spirals.Noah Hellwig
En Confidence - En Fidence - En Danse is a concert-performance made for Swedens oldest rococo theatre, the Ulriksdals Slottsteater - Confidencen.
Four musicians starts as a small concert ensamble. Like a river their music flows from another time and place. Piece by piece they slowly invites the space, the room and time to breathe with them and their music into a feeling of here and now. Their invitation invites a dance that, similarly to a large rock in the river, creates curves and swirls in the water that folds upon itself, in a movement that never fully ends. Baroque curves form leafs and decorations that spirals into smaller version of itself like a Mandelbrot-fractal where beginning and ends starts to loose meaning.
Inspired by mental links between the baroque gardens and the geometrical mandala the piece tries to create a moment when time and space unfolds differently and where reality can like a spirograph be in a constant change while being in a loop simultaneously.
The baroque music was often made for dance. Here the dance comes and invites the musicians to join in the new perspective that spatial movement can give. The movement and sound fills the space like a smoke cermony and leaves traces for us to see, feel and remember.
